Murphy's Mob. Some of the live football footage was recorded at the old baseball ground. Good theme tune sung by Gary Holten off of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

I'd hazard a guess that I liked rentaghost (and Mrs popof) as I was young, but as I also didn't mind the moomins and button moon I can't be trusted.

Thought it was utter shit as a kid. No a shred of nostalgia for it.

That's right. I don't ever remember seeing anyone complete the thing!
Re Captain Pugwash it's funny how such urban myths stay with you.

Yep was going to mention it yesterday, wasn't the plant the uncle? You had to win back the crystals to travel back to earth.
Precursor to Crystal maze.

Back in the day the BBC were very keen to ban stuff, though not so good at spotting what to ban. Think Pictures of Lily and loads of drug songs like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds that slipped through the net.
However, some genius did spot (correctly as it transpires) that Peter Firmin was Swannee whistling both, 'bugger off, and 'sod it, the bloody thing's stuck again'.
Big shout out for Roobarb and Custard - the best cartoon cat ever.
Also there was some weird French shit called The Shadocks - fuck knows what that was all about.

Anyone remember "The Adventure Game". Had a plant that shook and said "Gronda Gronda" or something like that and contestants that got zapped into thin air in the final game on some sort of maze?
I also remember every summer holiday morning they walloped the old Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan programmes on BBC...

The ultimate weird one was The Singing Ringing Tree. German folk tales on LSD.

As said earlier some of the kids programmes back then were creepy but then add in the kids safety vids such as throwing a Frisbee into a substation, chucking a firework around, going for a walk with a stranger or being at the bottom of a lake with a manky cat called Charlie. It's a surprise anyone under 10 did anything.
